In memory of Utah County Sheriff's Office's Sgt. Cory Wride, who was killed in the line of duty on January 30th, 2014, we will be hosting our annual match shoot competition on Range 9 on Wednesday night of LETC 2023, starting at 5:00 PM.

Each year, this shooting match tests the accuracy, speed, movement, and reload tactics of officers all on the same stage. The winner will be the shooter who clears all targets in the shortest time, with other rules determined at the time of the match. You won't want to miss this year's match and your chance to walk away with the prize. Course layout and complete rules will be available just before the competition begins.

Equipment:
All firearms used in the competition should be considered duty weapons. If your department allows you to use it, then it can be used in the competition. Come prepared with the following:
  • Duty pistol, holster, and three magazines
  • 50 rounds of pistol ammunition
  • 30 rounds of rifle ammunition
Prize: Last year, Action Target and Aero Precision gifted the winner an Aero Precision M4E1. While this year's prize is yet to be determined, it will be of similar value to last year and previous years.

Friday August 23, 2024 12:00am - 5:00am MDT

Selecting the right equipment for you job is critical and considerations should be given to the modern advancements in lights that have occurred in the last 5 years. These advantages will be discussed as well as how to develop a course of action for your department to acquire, equip and train your officers in a way that makes it difficult for administrators to turn you down.
